how does the scheme work?
It's quite simple really. You choose which campaign you want to join via our online system. Currently we have two:
- Generating homeprotect quotes
- Generating homeprotect sales
Then you can access a suite of promotional collateral (ranging from banners and buttons to text links and advertorials). Rather than downloading the adverts you copy the html code we provide and embed it on your website - that way we serve the advert and we can track all referrals from your website back to you.
We will handle all business administration, monitoring link performance and calculate commission payments.
You will receive a statement each month advising you of each individual completed quote or policy taken out and commission earned.
It's that simple - you supply the click throughs, we take care of the rest!

what do I need to become an affiliate?
The main thing you will need is a desire to be an affiliate of homeprotect. Beyond that you simply need a website or blog page that can host the adverts which we will serve.

do I need to be authorised by the Financial Services Authority?
The simple answer is no - as long as you abide by the terms of the program we have set out (which our affiliates team will provide you with as part of the registration process).
In essence, unless you are authorised in some capacity by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) - either Directly Authorised or an Introducer Appointed Representative of homeprotect - then all you are entitled to do is passively display the promotional materials we provide. You are not entitled to endorse or make reference to the promotional materials (or our service) or proactively promote our offer or service.
Things you are entitled to do:
- Passively display the adverts (textual and graphical) that we serve from our online system
Things you are not entitled to do:
- Send out emails or mailshots promoting our offer / service
- Make verbal or written reference to our offer / service
- Create and display your own advertisements (either textual or graphical) that promotes our offer / service

what levels of commission can I earn?
Currently we are running two campaigns which you can choose from:
- homeprotect quotes
- homeprotect sales
If you opt to generate quotes for homeprotect then we currently pay £5 + VAT for each validated quote. If you opt to generate sales for homeprotect then we currently pay £40 + VAT for each validated sale.
You could choose to run both campaigns and compare the profitability of each via a split test. Each advert you run is connected to a campaign. So, for example, advert A is connected to the 'quotes' campaign whereas advert B is connected to the 'sales' campaign.

how do I know I will be paid for my referral?
Our affiliate scheme is powered by Post Affiliate Pro, the leading affiliate tracking software which is used by thousands of Internet merchants and affiliates world-wide. Post Affiliate Pro uses IP address to track referrals via a very reliable system. When the visitor follows your affiliate link to our site, Post Affiliate Pro registers this referral. When the visitor then starts our quote process Post Affiliate Pro captures the GUID (Globally Unique ID) which our system generates and stores this against your account. Then, depending on which campaign you are signed up to, as soon as this GUID is converted to either a full quote or a sale within 45 days then you will qualify for commission.
Once the quote/sale has been validated by our weekly validation process, the commission will accrue in your account and you will be paid once per month.
The tracking process is absolutely automatic and you can rest assured that all your referrals will be properly tracked.

how is the payment handled?
We pay affiliates once per month (on or around the 15th) via bank transfer. There is a minumum payout value of £200 so you will need to accrue this much commission prior to a payment.

is my activity VAT-able?
If you are VAT-registered then yes, the activity is considered to be VAT-able. We factored this in when calculating our commission levels.

what constitutes a valid quote or sale?
A valid quote (i.e. one which earns commission) will meet the following criteria:
- A price has been generated by our quote engine
- It is obviously not fradulent
- You have a record of the GUID (Globally Unique ID) upon which the quote was based within your affiliate account (don't worry, our system handles this automatically)
- We can match the GUID to a corresponding GUID within the import file we load in weekly to validate quotes (again, there's nothing you need to do here - we handle this process ourselves)
A valid sale (i.e. one which earns commission) will meet the following criteria:
- An insurance policy has been purchased and payment has been made (either partially in the event of a monthly instalment plan or in full)
- The policy is live on our system following the statutory 'cooling off' period (defined as 2 weeks from the inception date of the policy)
- You have a record of the GUID (Globally Unique ID) upon which the quote was based within your affiliate account (don't worry, our system handles this automatically)
- We can match the GUID to a corresponding GUID within the import file we load in weekly to validate quotes (again, there's nothing you need to do here - we handle this process ourselves)

can I promote you through pay-per-click search engines?
You can - with the exception of brand bidding, which is prohibited - as long as you use the ppc promotional text and tracking link that we provide via your affiliate account. You are not entitled to change this in any way, shape or form.
If you would like a different ppc ad then please submit your suggestions to our affiliates team who can submit the ad through our internal approval process and make the ad available for use via your affiliate account.

how will you maximise the conversion of my referrals?
homeprotect looks to capitalise on all affiliate referrals by calling back those clients who start or complete a quote on our website but who don’t buy.
We aim to contact each referral within thirty minutes of the client leaving our website.
Our sales agent will retrieve the quote (or partial quote) that your referral generated and use this as the basis of their quote. So, if you are signed up to the 'quotes' campaign, then as soon as our agent generates a price, the full or partial quote stored in your account will qualify for commission (pending validation). And if you are signed up to the 'sales' campaign, then by dint of our agent completing the sale, you will be accredited with a sale in your account (again, pending validation).
The same principle applies to an inbound call from a client. So long as they have completed the first step of the quote process and a GUID has been generated and stored against your affiliate account then when the client calls in, our sales agents will retrieve the quote (or partial quote) that your referral generated and you are on your way to earning commission.
