home insurance and convictions
a guide for ex-offenders with unspent criminal convictions
homeprotect are proud sponsors of Insurance and Convictions - a guide for ex-offenders with unspent criminal convictions.
The guide has been produced by UNLOCK, the National Association of Reformed Offenders, in consultation with the ABI (Association of British Insurers) and is considered to be the definitive guide for people with unspent criminal convictions who purchase insurance.
The guide will provide much needed clarity for people who have a criminal conviction which, according to government figures, is up to 8 million people in England and Wales alone.
People buying insurance are legally required to declare their convictions, even if insurers do not ask about them, unless they are considered ‘spent’ under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

home insurance for ex-offenders
For ex offenders, or for households where someone has an unspent criminal conviction, finding a home insurance provider has until now been a tall order. This is because most home insurance companies will simply reject you on the basis that people with convictions don't fit their profile of a risk-free home insurance customer.
homeprotect takes an entirely different approach and aims to provide immediate online home insurance for ex offenders.
If you do however wish to talk to one of our representatives then you can be sure that they will treat you with fairness and respect and in a manner which is 100% professional, confidential and discreet.
Please note that to ensure discretion we do not include details of your convictions in your policy documents but if you would like written confirmation then please do not hesitate to ask us for this.
