Our buildings insurance covers your home against losses from fire, storm, flood, vandalism, burglary, vehicle collision and subsidence.
Buildings insurance covers not only the main building but also things such as interior decorations, fixtures and fittings, garages, domestic outbuildings, drives, patios, gates, fences, walls, swimming pools and tennis courts within the boundary of the property.
Normally a homeprotect buildings insurance policy provides up to £500,000 for your buildings (although more is available if your property needs it). This means that as long as the cost of rebuilding your home would be below £500,000, your home will be adequately covered. Many home insurance providers require you to work out the exact cost of rebuilding your home. This can be a lot of hassle to work out (although the BCIS website is a very useful resource), and if you do underestimate the rebuild cost, you may end up having an insurance claim proportionately reduced.
In addition, a homeprotect buildings insurance policy automatically includes:
- Up to £500,000 of buildings cover normally available as standard (and more if your property requires it)
- Cover for loss of rent and the costs of alternative accommodation
- Up to £750 to pay for increased domestic metered water charges you have to pay following an escape of water
- Up to £2,000,000 public liability cover
- Accidental damage cover for windows, double glazing, sanitary ware, ceramic hobs, domestic oil pipes, underground water-supply pipes, sewers, drains, septic tanks, gas pipes and cables
- Additional accidental damage cover is available to protect you if you inadvertently cause damage to the property (e.g. a DIY disaster).
A homeprotect buildings insurance policy can be reduced in price by up to 25% through a no claims discount.
