homeprotect contents insurance
There’s no limit on the amount of contents insurance cover you can buy with homeprotect. We provide cover on a new for old basis on your household goods, and automatically include:
- Accidental damage cover on some electrical items in your home, including your TV, DVD, DAB, radio, gaming console and home PC (not portable computers)
- A 10% increase on the cover amount for the Christmas period and other religious festivals and your wedding day
- Up to £2,500 of cover for your children’s possessions while they are at university during term-time
- Up to £500 to replace music and digital downloads which have been lost
- Up to £500 for replacement locks
- Cover for up to 10% of the contents sum insured for costs of using other accommodation (if your home cannot be lived in following loss or damage)
- Up to 10% of the contents sum insured for your legal responsibility as a tenant for loss or damage to the buildings
- Up to £750 for increased domestic metered water charges you have to pay following an escape of water
- Up to £200 for the cost of replacing your food in your fridge or freezer
- Up to £2,000,000 public liability cover
- Additional accidental damage cover is available to protect you against those everyday spillages and incidents that happen in and around the home – especially if you have children! So say, for example, you knock a cup of coffee over your nice pale sofa in the living room, unless you bought accidental damage cover, you would not be able to claim the cost of repair or replacement.
You also have the option of buying personal possessions cover which will protect you in the event of something happening to your prized possessions outside your home. We can, for example, cover you for bicycles and for gadgets such as laptops, iPhones and Sat Navs.
A homeprotect contents insurance policy can be reduced in price by up to 25% through a no claims discount.
