Accidental damage is meant to protect a person’s insured assets against damage caused by unintentional and unpredictable mistakes, such as spilling coffee on the carpet. It is typically made available as an additional cover option that can be added onto a home insurance policy.
As you would expect, accidental damage cover is designed for those unexpected mishaps that can affect your building or contents. HomeProtect offer two levels of accidental damage home insurance for buildings-only, contents-only, and combined buildings and contents policies:
Basic accidental damage protects you from small misfortunes such as repairing sanitary ware, underground water supply, fixed glassware and some home electricals.
Full accidental damage is a more comprehensive option that covers you for incidents like spilling wine on the carpet, or DIY disasters like drilling through a water pipe.

Yes, so long as you have specified it on your policy and requested away from home cover, or you have upgraded your policy to include personal possessions cover away from the property.
You’re covered if the item damaged belongs to you, so long as you have specified it on your policy and requested away from home cover, or you have upgraded your policy to include personal possessions cover away from the property.
